The Importance of Frame Rate (FPS) in Football
Movies are shot at 24fps. TV shows at 30fps. But sports need 50fps (UK/Europe) or 60fps (USA). If you watch football at 30fps, the ball will look like it has a "ghost" trail when kicked.
Player Settings for Smooth Motion
In TiviMate or Smarters:
- Enable AFR (Auto Frame Rate) matching. This switches your TV's refresh rate to match the stream.
- Ensure Hardware Decoding is ON. Software decoding often cannot handle 50fps de-interlacing.
- If your TV supports "Motion Smoothing" (Soap Opera Effect), turn it OFF for movies but you might actually like it for Sports if your stream is low FPS.
