Question:

I'm watching football and suddenly the video jumps back 10 seconds, plays again, and jumps back again. It's an infinite loop. My internet is 500Mbps. Why?

Answer:

This is called a Buffer Underrun Loop. It is rarely a client-side (your internet) issue.

It happens when the server you are connected to is overloaded. The server fails to send the next packet of video data in time. Your player (TiviMate/Smarters) runs out of new data to play. Instead of freezing, some players are programmed to replay the last valid segment of data in the cache while waiting for new data.

Fix: Switch to a backup server. UltraStream subscriptions come with redundant server URLs (Server A, Server B) to prevent exactly this.
